"Global X Introduces Cutting-Edge Cyber Security ETF to Bolster Digital Defense"

Global X ETFs has introduced a new ETF to its product lineup, aiming to provide Australian investors with access to the growing cyber security industry. The Global X Cybersecurity ETF, trading under the ticker code BUGG on the ASX, is positioned as the “lowest-cost, pure-play ETF on the market” for cyber security. With a management fee of 0.47% per annum, the ETF tracks the Indxx Cybersecurity Index, which includes companies generating over half of their revenue from cyber security activities. Global X CEO Evan Metcalf expressed pride in bringing this important thematic ETF to Australian investors, emphasizing the significance of cyber security in personal, organizational, and national security. The ETF differentiates itself by focusing solely on companies and sectors relevant to the cyber security theme, such as network security software and equipment. Scott Helfstein, head of thematic solutions at Global X, highlighted the limited domestic opportunities for exposure to the cyber security theme in markets like Australia, emphasizing the importance of geographical diversification. The rise in global cyber attacks and the increasing costs associated with intrusions further underscore the need for cyber security solutions. Global X expects spending on cyber security solutions and services to reach $219 billion in 2023, driven by the growing prevalence of cyber threats and advancements in technologies like artificial intelligence and the cloud. BUGG is the 35th ETF listed by Global X and follows the launch of several new funds this year.
