Cybersecurity Takes Center Stage for Police
With the rise in complaints of fake nude pictures and cyberbullying, the police force is making cybersecurity a top priority.
Assistant Commissioner Hodges Ette emphasized this during the recent graduation ceremony of over 20 detectives who received training from Homeland Security in the United States.
The training aimed to equip officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to investigate cyber threats and offenses.
“We have noticed the use of social media to attack our mothers and daughters,” ACP Ette stated.
“We will not tolerate this behavior.
“Our mothers and daughters deserve respect,” ACP Ette added.
Mr. Ette also highlighted that the trained police officers are now equipped to tackle cyber offenses.
He expressed hope that other agencies, such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Internal Revenue Commission, Bank of PNG, Airport Security, and PNG Customs, would also participate in future cybersecurity training programs.
