POTSDAM — Clarkson University is stepping up to the plate to address the growing need for cybersecurity experts in today’s digital world. The university is proud to announce the launch of a new Masters degree program in Cybersecurity, designed to provide students with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to the field.
The program, which is STEM-designated, will offer students a wide range of choices and opportunities for hands-on experience. By combining the strengths of the Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering departments, Clarkson aims to provide students with a well-rounded education that covers everything from computing fundamentals to hardware security and biometrics.
“The demand for cybersecurity experts is on the rise, and Clarkson is well-positioned to offer a program that bridges the gap between computer science and computer engineering,” said Michelle Crimi, dean of the Graduate School. “Our students will have the chance to work on real-world issues and build connections with industry partners.”
Clarkson University faculty are already actively engaged in cutting-edge research in cybersecurity, with projects ranging from Internet security to AI risk management. The university has established strong partnerships with government agencies like the Department of Defense and industry partners to ensure that students have access to the latest developments in the field.
Students in the Cybersecurity program will also benefit from resources like the Clarkson Open Source Institute, which supports student projects and promotes open source software. With opportunities for internships and collaborations with companies like Google and IBM, students can gain valuable hands-on experience before entering the workforce.
