"Menlo Security uncovers three new nation-state cyber espionage campaigns"

Menlo Security uncovers three new nation-state cyber espionage campaignsMenlo Security has just released its latest report, “Global Cyber Gangs,” uncovering three new nation-state campaigns utilizing highly evasive and adaptive threat (HEAT) attack techniques. These campaigns, named LegalQloud, Eqooqp, and Boomer, have compromised over 40,000 high-value users in various sectors including banking, finance, insurance, legal, government, and healthcare.

According to Andrew Harding, Vice President of Security Strategy at Menlo Security, state-sponsored cyberattacks have impacted at least one-third of American citizens this year. The report highlights the increasing sophistication and scale of these attacks, emphasizing the need for stronger security measures to combat them.

The report details the tactics used by each campaign, such as LegalQloud impersonating legal firms to steal Microsoft credentials and Eqooqp targeting government and private sector organizations. Boomer, on the other hand, employs advanced phishing techniques to target government and healthcare sectors.

Key findings from the report include the prevalence of phishing links and the impersonation of Microsoft as the most targeted brand across industries. To combat these evasive attacks, Menlo Security has developed the Menlo Secure Cloud Browser with HEAT Shield phishing prevention, offering real-time protection by executing web requests in the cloud.
