Rising threats and skill limitations at small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers are driving growth for managed security services providers (MSSPs).
Looking ahead to 2025, experts in the channel are predicting that security and artificial intelligence (AI) will be key areas of focus. Denis Ferrand-Ajchenbaum, chief growth officer at Infinigate Group, and managing director of Infinigate Cloud, expects further growth in the MSSP sector next year.
“Cyber security concerns are not just for large enterprises,” he noted. “SMBs are increasingly aware of the threats they face, with a significant increase in data losses due to cyber attacks. This rise in attacks has led businesses of all sizes to prioritize cyber resilience.”
With limited resources for in-house experts and infrastructure, SMBs are turning to managed security services for protection. The demand for these services is expected to continue to rise, with the global market projected to reach $67bn by 2025.
Dean Watson, lead solution expert for secure networking at Infinigate UK&I, highlighted the dual nature of AI in the cybersecurity landscape. While AI adoption is expected to surge, threat actors will also utilize AI-powered tools for more effective attacks. On the defensive side, AI-powered analytics will empower security operations centers to defend against cyber threats.
As AI-capable machines enter offices and homes in greater numbers in 2025, the risks will also increase. However, this presents opportunities for security experts in the channel to help businesses identify high-impact use cases for AI and ensure responsible use to reduce risk.
