Staples is gearing up to make a splash in the business-to-business services market with the launch of Staples Technology Solutions. The new portfolio offers a range of data center, print, and managed services for small businesses up to the enterprise level, according to Joe Kalinoski, vice president of finance for Staples Technology Solutions.
With an enhanced IT products catalog, Staples Technology Solutions aims to attract the same business customers that solution providers target. Kalinoski expressed confidence in the offerings, stating, “I think VARs that read this will be a little envious of what we have to offer here.”
The services under Staples Technology Solutions include access to certified specialists for various areas such as Cisco Systems, Citrix, and Linux, as well as onsite and remote server and desktop support for different platforms. Additionally, services like printer fleet management and data center assessments are also available.
Operating under Staples Advantage, the business-to-business division of Staples, Staples Technology Solutions was formed from the acquisitions of Corporate Express and Thrive Networks. Kalinoski highlighted the evolution of the division, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing office products, print solutions, and managed IT services.
While Staples Technology Solutions does not offer enterprise-class servers or storage products, it can provide the necessary infrastructure to run a data center. The company plans to leverage managed services platforms for servers and desktops from N-able Technologies and Kaseya.
Despite competition from other solution providers, Staples Technology Solutions aims to collaborate with them for service implementations. The company also plans to utilize its nationwide presence and partnerships to deliver services effectively.
Analysts see a big opportunity for Staples in the services market, noting that the company’s brand could attract customers looking to consolidate their vendors. Smaller solution providers may even consider partnering with Staples to leverage its credibility and reach in the market.
