No arrests have been made after a car crashed into a store front in Blackburn, police confirmed.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when a BMW parked outside Kebabish restaurant hit a fence and then slammed into the front of the PC Waves store on Whalley New Road.
Footage from a CCTV camera shows the car veering at speed, clipping a parked vehicle at a busy traffic lights junction before crashing into the shop front.
William Ray, the driver of a Honda Civic stopped at the traffic lights, described the chaotic scene: “I saw two women in the front seat and they appeared to accelerate. They hit my car and my car shot back. Luckily, I did not hit the person behind. The front of my car is really heavily damaged and I have been off work all week.”
He also mentioned the kindness of the local community in Bastwell, who offered him food and drink following the incident.
Store owner Muzammil Pardesi expressed his stress and anguish over the damage to his store, which has forced him to close temporarily. He said, “I do not know how they managed to hit the fence and then crash into the storefront.”
A police spokesperson confirmed that it was a damage-only collision and no arrests have been made. They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.
