A recent study has found that cyberattacks are on the rise, leading to increased stress among cybersecurity professionals. According to the survey conducted by ISACA, over two-thirds of cybersecurity experts believe their job has become more stressful in the past five years, impacting their overall well-being.
The main reasons for this stress include the rapidly changing and complex cybersecurity landscape, with 40% of professionals citing insufficient training for staff and 47% facing challenges in hiring and retaining talent. Additionally, almost half of respondents feel that their budget is too low, and a third say that cybersecurity risks are not prioritized within their organizations.
Despite these challenges, only 38% of respondents expressed a high degree of confidence in their team’s ability to detect and respond to cyber threats. Furthermore, 41% reported an increase in the number of attacks, with social engineering, unpatched system DoS, and malware being the most common attack vectors.
Chris Dimitriadis, Chief Global Strategy Officer for ISACA, emphasized the importance of overcoming obstacles such as underfunding and understaffed teams in order to enhance security resilience across industries. With cyberattacks becoming more frequent and sophisticated, it is crucial for organizations to prioritize cybersecurity and invest in skilled teams to protect critical infrastructure.
As the cost of resolving data breaches continues to rise, reaching over £3.5 million on average, it is clear that cybersecurity teams are facing significant challenges. With attacks becoming more costly and complex, it is essential for businesses to stay vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their digital assets.
