Raspberry Pi's latest keyboard computer can support an additional $100 displayRaspberry Pi has unveiled an upgraded version of its computer-in-a-keyboard, the Raspberry Pi 500, incorporating the new features and performance enhancements of the Raspberry Pi 5 microcomputer introduced last September.

The Raspberry Pi 500, now available starting at $90, is $20 more expensive than its predecessor, the Raspberry Pi 400. The extra cost provides users with a 2.4GHz 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor and 8GB of RAM. For those looking for a complete setup, a $120 Desktop Kit includes the computer keyboard, a matching mouse, a 27W USB-C power supply, a single micro HDMI cable, and a printed copy of the Raspberry Pi Beginner’s Guide book.

Additionally, Raspberry Pi is introducing a display option for an all-in-one desktop solution priced at $220. The $100 Raspberry Pi Monitor features a 15.6-inch full HD IPS panel with built-in speakers and a folding stand. The display can be powered directly from a Raspberry Pi microcomputer with a USB port outputting 1.5A at 5V. However, brightness is limited to 60 percent and volume to 50 percent without an additional power supply.

The Raspberry Pi 500 computer keyboard boasts an 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU, a 40-pin Raspberry Pi GPIO connector, support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, a gigabit ethernet port, and a USB-C port for power. It also features two micro HDMI ports capable of driving two 4K displays at 60Hz each and a microSD card slot preloaded with the Debian-based Raspberry Pi operating system.

While the new Raspberry Pi 500 does not entirely replace the Raspberry Pi 400, the latter will see a price drop from $70 to $60. The Raspberry Pi 400 Personal Computer Kit, including additional accessories like a mouse and power supply, will also receive a price reduction from $100 to $80.
