Three Backup and Recovery Success Stories Celebrated on World Backup Day

Three Backup and Recovery Success Stories Celebrated on World Backup DayData is now considered one of the most valuable assets for companies, but are they taking enough precautions to protect it?

According to Dell EMC’s Data Protection Index, 41 percent of IT decision-makers experienced unplanned downtime in the last year, with 28 percent unable to recover their data using their current protection solutions.

Dena Bauckman from Zix emphasizes the importance of having a backup and recovery plan in place, citing recent outages at Facebook as a reminder that even well-equipped companies can face disruptions.

To highlight the benefits of proper data backup, here are three success stories:

1. Church Mutual, an insurance company, improved its data recovery success rate by implementing Disaster Recovery as a Service through CDW and IBM’s Storwize V7000 storage area network.

2. Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh upgraded to VMware vSAN to ensure business continuity and moved its backup systems off-premises for added security.

3. Roysons, a coating and lamination services provider, enhanced its data protection and storage capabilities by adopting Dell EMC Unity 300 SAN solution and VMWare’s vMotion.

To enhance backup and recovery efforts, businesses are advised to define a backup continuity plan, evaluate different options, and regularly review and test their plans to ensure they are effective during an outage.
