Priests in Cologne Caught Attempting to Access Porn on Church Computers

In a surprising turn of events, it has been revealed that priests in Cologne have made multiple attempts to access pornographic websites on church computers. According to reports from the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, around 15 employees, including a high-ranking priest, were involved in these attempts.

Between May and June of this year, there were approximately 1,000 access attempts to blocked websites, which were described as “questionable, undesirable, and potentially threatening to IT security.” Most of the suspicious activity centered around pornographic sites.

The reason this list of attempts is only coming to light now is because the police were investigating an employee of the archdiocese for owning child abuse material. However, there is no evidence to suggest that the material viewed on the church computers was illegal.

Church officials have handed over the information to investigators, and the Archdiocese of Cologne has stated that they monitor IT security, including the effectiveness of their firewalls in fending off risky website access attempts. It is worth noting that accessing pornography is strictly prohibited under the labor agreement with the archdiocese and is considered a grave sin according to Catholic teaching.
