One of the first personal computers built by Apple and signed by company co-founder Steve Wozniak has been sold at auction for over $223,000. The Apple-1, which was restored to a fully operational state and came with a custom case with a built-in keyboard, was auctioned by Boston-based RR Auction. Around 200 Apple-1 computers were manufactured in Steve Jobs’ garage in California in the late 1970s, and they played a significant role in launching the company. Originally sold for $666, this particular unit was expected to fetch around $200,000. The computer was signed by Wozniak himself at an event in 2017 and was brought back to working condition earlier this year by Apple expert Corey Cohen. The buyer of the computer wishes to remain anonymous. Additionally, an original handwritten advertisement for the Apple-1 Computer written by Jobs sold for nearly $176,000, while an Apple company check signed by Jobs and Wozniak in 1976 sold for over $135,000.
