FNB offers Energy Bounce Back loans for businesses to apply

FNB Introduces Loan Scheme for Backup Energy Solutions

In light of the impending Stage 5 loadshedding, FNB has announced that businesses can now apply for loans of up to R10 million to purchase backup energy solutions. This initiative aims to provide support to small businesses and households in dealing with the challenges posed by unreliable power supply and loadshedding.

The Energy Bounce Back Loan Guarantee Scheme, introduced by the National Treasury earlier this year, allows businesses to access funding for alternative energy sources. After a period of deliberation, these loans became available at the beginning of August.

FNB CEO, Jacques Celliers, stated that business clients can now apply for this loan scheme, with applications for individuals expected to open before the end of the year. He emphasized the importance of energy security and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help customers invest in solar equipment through the National Treasury EBB loan guarantee scheme.

To qualify for the loan, businesses must meet certain criteria, including a credit and risk evaluation conducted by the bank. The loan is exclusively designated for backup energy solutions and cannot be used to repay existing debt. Additionally, it is only available to businesses with a maximum turnover of R300 million per annum.

For individuals, FNB also offers a Personal Loan ranging from R3,000 to R300,000 at a personalized interest rate. Once customers inform FNB that the loan will be used for backup power solutions, the interest rate is lowered to prime (11.75 percent) plus one percent. This option is expected to be available before the end of the year.

It is important for businesses and individuals to review the terms and conditions and contact FNB for more information regarding the loan scheme.

While FNB provides backup energy solutions through its mobile app, it is advisable to explore other options before making a purchase.
