A man was apprehended with a disturbing collection of child sex abuse images following a police raid at his residence. Allan MacLeod was caught after law enforcement received information that indecent material was being downloaded at his address. The authorities traced MacLeod through his Virgin Media internet subscription and swiftly acted by raiding his flat in Edinburgh.

According to the Record, over 2000 vile images of child abuse were discovered on a seized computer unit. MacLeod, aged 35, appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children. Fiscal depute Jennifer McLaren revealed that MacLeod was present at his home in the Niddrie area when the police arrived.

Cybercrime experts examined a system unit taken from the property, where they found 163 Category A (the most severe level) images that had been downloaded. Additionally, there were 163 Category B stills and another 1956 at Category C. McLaren stated, “The images were found in different locations in different databases. The file names were indicative of child abuse material.”

Sheriff Ian Anderson has deferred MacLeod’s sentencing until next month for reports. In the meantime, MacLeod has been placed on the sex offender register on an interim basis.
