"SysGroup Expands Managed Services Portfolio Amidst H1 Revenue Decline"

SysGroup, a managed service provider, has released its half-year results, revealing a mixed performance but also demonstrating progress in its business development efforts. The company reported a decline in revenues of $3 year-on-year to £10.96m, while pre-tax profits for the period stood at £0.99m. However, there was positive news in the form of an 8% increase in managed services revenues, which now account for 84% of SysGroup’s total business.

In addition to the financial results, SysGroup has undergone some management changes during this period. Heejae Chae joined as executive chair, and Paul Edwards was appointed as the new non-executive director.

SysGroup has also invested in the hardware supporting its SysCloud infrastructure and has embarked on a fresh strategy to deliver more artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions. To support this ambition, the company has formed an engineering team. Chae emphasized the areas where SysGroup is investing for future growth, stating that their strategy aims to position the company as the go-to end-to-end data solution provider for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) venturing into their AI/ML journey.

Chae acknowledged the increasing demand for AI strategies and the need for a partner to support SMBs in developing their AI/ML strategy and transitioning from their current platform.

SysGroup’s conviction that AI and ML will drive growth in the second half of the year and beyond is supported by the moves made during H1. The company has made significant investments in technology and people, recruiting a team of ML engineers from industry leaders such as AWS, JP Morgan, Validus, and McLaren. The senior management team has also been strengthened to facilitate this journey.

Chae highlighted the growing revenues from managed services as a positive aspect, with the recurring business providing a solid foundation for expansion. He acknowledged that while there may be a marginal impact on the overall bottom-line performance due to investment in the company, it is aimed at driving revenue growth in future financial years.

SysGroup is focused on reinforcing a culture of customer focus and outstanding service, underpinned by innovation, entrepreneurialism, and high performance. Chae expressed excitement about the potential of what SysGroup is building and the unexploited market opportunity that lies ahead.

Overall, SysGroup’s half-year results indicate a mixed picture, but with positive momentum in its business development and strategic investments in AI and ML.
