The UK Government’s latest initiative, the Stop! Think Fraud campaign, is making strides in the fight against fraud. In collaboration with law enforcement, tech, banking, telecoms, and third sector organizations, the campaign aims to raise public awareness about fraud safety advice.
This campaign builds upon the long-term Fraud Strategy outlined by the Home Office in May 2023. The strategy includes 52 actions aimed at reducing fraud by 10% before the end of this Parliament.
Encouragingly, recent data from the Crime Survey of England and Wales reveals a 13% decrease in fraud and computer misuse over the past year.
James Davies, MP for Vale of Clwyd, expressed his support for the government’s efforts, stating, “Fraud is a terrible problem that can have devastating effects on individuals’ lives. I am pleased to hear that the Conservative Government’s crackdown on fraud has resulted in a 6.3% reduction in fraud referrals in North Wales.”
Davies further added, “The Conservative Government’s new ‘Stop! Think Fraud’ campaign will build upon this progress by raising public awareness about fraud safety. It complements the long-term Fraud Strategy announced by the Conservatives last year.”
This news demonstrates that the government’s comprehensive plan to combat fraud is yielding positive results and providing reassurance to residents in the Vale of Clwyd.
