Woman lived inside rooftop grocery store sign for a yearA homeless woman was discovered living inside a Michigan rooftop grocery store sign where she seemed to have set up an office. The 34-year-old vagrant, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found on April 23 when a contractor noticed an extension cord on the roof. She had been residing behind the triangle-shaped sign of the Family Fare supermarket in Midland, using electricity from the store.

Officer Brennon Warren from the Midland Police Department mentioned that the woman claimed to have a job but had been living inside the sign for almost a year. Surprisingly, she had set up a makeshift home with flooring, a desk, clothing, a Keurig coffee maker, printer, and a computer – items you’d find in a regular home. The officer was puzzled about how she accessed the roof without a ladder.

Despite the unusual living situation, the woman complied with the officer’s request to leave, and no charges were filed. Adrienne Chance, a spokesperson for SpartanNash, the parent company of Family Fare, commended the store employees for their compassionate response upon learning about the situation. She highlighted the ongoing housing crisis in the country and emphasized the need for safe and affordable housing solutions.

The officer provided the woman with information about local services before she left. It remains unclear where she went afterward. DailyMail.com reached out to SpartanNash for further comments on the incident.
