CentroMed's Computer Network Breached, Patients' Personal Information Obtained, Investigation FindsSAN ANTONIO – CentroMed recently fell victim to hackers who accessed their computer network and obtained patient information, the San Antonio-based healthcare provider announced on Friday.

The unauthorized access occurred around April 30, 2024, and resulted in the acquisition of files containing information about current and former CentroMed patients. This information may include names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security numbers, and financial account details.

Following reports from patients experiencing difficulties with CentroMed’s computer network, the healthcare provider launched an investigation and took steps to secure its IT systems. CentroMed is now reaching out to affected patients, providing information on their website, and setting up a call center for inquiries.

Patients who suspect their information may have been compromised are advised to review healthcare statements and financial account activity for any discrepancies or suspicious transactions. CentroMed has also implemented additional security measures to prevent future incidents.

This is not the first time CentroMed has experienced a data breach, as a similar incident occurred in June 2023. The healthcare provider assures patients that they are taking the situation seriously and apologizes for any concerns it may have caused.
