Italian teenage computer prodigy poised to become the first saint of the Millennial eraPope Francis has paved the way for the canonization of the first saint of the millennial generation, attributing a second miracle to a 15-year-old Italian computer whiz who died of leukemia in 2006.

Carlo Acutis, born in London and raised in Milan, was beatified by Francis in Assisi in 2020. The approval of a second miracle for Acutis was announced by the Pontiff during a meeting with Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, head of the Vatican’s saint-making department.

Pope Francis will convene a Consistory of Cardinals to discuss the canonization of Acutis, along with three other Blessed individuals. Known as the “patron saint of the internet,” Acutis used his tech skills to create a website cataloging miracles and helped manage websites for local Catholic organizations.

Acutis taught himself coding and video editing at a young age and was known for his strong religious devotion. He passed away in 2006 and was put on the path to sainthood after two miracles were attributed to him.

One of the miracles involved the healing of a Brazilian boy, while the second miracle was related to a woman from Costa Rica whose daughter recovered from severe head trauma after visiting Acutis’ tomb in Assisi.

Acutis’ mother recalled his early interest in churches and religious practices, which inspired her to deepen her own faith. He was buried in Assisi, where his body is venerated in a sanctuary and his heart is displayed in a reliquary.

The young saint’s legacy continues to inspire believers around the world, showcasing the power of faith and devotion.
