The owner of a popular store is feeling the ‘stress and anguish’ after a car crashed into the front of his business. The incident occurred on Monday, June 24, after 10pm when a BMW parked outside Kebabish restaurant opposite veered into a fence and then collided with the front of PC Waves store on Whalley New Road.
CCTV footage captured the car speeding into the shop, narrowly missing other vehicles at the busy traffic lights junction. A quick-thinking driver waiting at the lights managed to reverse just in time to avoid a collision.
The crash caused significant damage to the store, including the main interior counter and computer equipment. Owner Muzammil Pardesi expressed his concerns, stating, “The damage inside the store is extensive and we have had to temporarily close. It’s a lot of stress and anguish for us.”
PC Waves, previously located near Meena Bakery, specializes in mobile phones and computer equipment. The crash also affected the store’s internet connections. Muzammil had to stay at the store until 1am to ensure the area was secure.
Despite the setback, Muzammil was touched by the support from customers and fellow local businesses. He shared, “We’ve been here since 2010 and this is the first time something like this has happened. People have been coming in to see the damage and offer their support.”
The store remains closed for the time being as the landlord assesses the damage and plans for repairs.
