Police have released CCTV footage showing a gang armed with axes and shotguns attacking a computer shop in the West Midlands. City Computers in Smethwick was targeted on 12 January, with windows smashed and shots fired inside the store. One victim was hit in the arm and another suffered a neck injury.
Jamal Hussain has been sentenced to nine years and two months in jail after pleading guilty to charges including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a shortened shotgun. West Midlands Police identified him as the driver of the car captured on nearby CCTV cameras.
The 22-year-old from Walsall fled the country after the attack but was arrested in May upon returning to the UK. The other five members of the gang have already been convicted.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock described the incident as a “planned attack”, noting that the group had been seen scouting the route the day before. He emphasized Hussain’s role as a key player in the operation and praised the fact that the injuries sustained by the victims were not serious.
