"CompTIA Report Emphasizes Critical Role of Organizational Support in Cybersecurity Success"

CompTIA Report Emphasizes Critical Role of Organizational Support in Cybersecurity SuccessCybersecurity is the top technology priority for the vast majority of organizations, but making it a reality requires a full commitment that many companies have yet to make, according to new research released by CompTIA.

CompTIA’s “State of Cybersecurity 2025” report reveals that cybersecurity is a primary or secondary priority for 98% of organizations. However, only 25% of survey respondents feel that cybersecurity is improving dramatically, and only 22% say their organization’s cybersecurity efforts are completely satisfactory. The survey included nearly 1,200 business and IT professionals across seven global regions.

“Seth Robinson, vice president of industry research at CompTIA, said, “Something is missing, either in the approach organizations are taking or in their expectations around what ideal cybersecurity would look like.”

The report also highlights the need for multiple layers of cybersecurity expertise. In North America, 53% of companies are considering new hiring options, while 56% plan to provide training for their current cybersecurity workforce. Additionally, 42% plan to offer cybersecurity certifications to establish core concepts within the team and expand skillsets.

While developing skills is crucial for improving efficiency, financial commitment remains a challenge for some organizations. Despite cybersecurity being a high priority, only 49% of respondents find it easy to secure funds for cybersecurity activities or see an increase in budgets.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to accelerate, automate, and complicate cybersecurity efforts. North American companies are split between using AI internally to enhance defense and learning about new AI-enabled attacks. Current AI use cases include monitoring network traffic, generating defense tests, and predicting future breaches.
