A school computer technician in New Jersey has been accused of blackmailing girls as young as 12, prosecutors say.
Bryce Berger, 24, who worked for Medford Township Public Schools, was arrested on Sept. 19 for allegedly soliciting nude photos from underage girls and threatening to release them if they didn’t send more pictures, according to Burlington County prosecutors.
The victims ranged in age from 12 to 17 years old, and Berger also reportedly sent sexually explicit photos to the girls and shared child sexual abuse material with another person.
The school district took immediate action to remove Berger from his position and ensure he had no access to school property. While prosecutors stated that Berger was not around students unsupervised, the investigation is ongoing.
Berger faces multiple charges including production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, impairing the morals of a child, possession of child sexual abuse material, obscenity to a minor, and sexual extortion.
Officials do not believe any of the victims were students at the school where Berger worked. Burlington County is located about 40 miles southeast of Philadelphia.
