Rising threats and skill limitations at small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers are driving growth for managed security services providers (MSSPs).
Looking ahead to 2025, security and artificial intelligence (AI) are expected to be key areas of focus in the channel. Denis Ferrand-Ajchenbaum, chief growth officer at Infinigate Group, predicts further growth for MSSPs next year.
“Cyber security concerns are not just for large enterprises,” he noted. “SMBs are increasingly aware of the threats they face, with a worrying increase in data losses due to cyber attacks. This has led businesses of all sizes to prioritize cyber resilience.”
With limited resources for in-house experts and infrastructure, SMBs are turning to managed security services. The global market for these services is projected to reach $67bn by 2025.
Dean Watson, lead solution expert for secure networking at Infinigate UK&I, highlighted AI as both a risk and an opportunity for the channel in 2025. Threat actors are expected to utilize AI-powered tools for cyber attacks, while AI-powered analytics will enhance defense capabilities.
As hardware is refreshed and AI-capable machines enter offices and homes in greater numbers, the channel will need to address new attack vectors. Watson emphasized the importance of responsible AI use to reduce risks and identified opportunities for security experts to assist businesses in leveraging AI effectively.
