Welcome to our Liverpool FC live blog for Friday, September 8.
The transfer window for Saudi Pro League clubs closed on Thursday night, and there were reports that reigning champions Al-Ittihad made a late bid for Mohamed Salah. However, the Reds rejected their verbal offer, making it clear that Salah was not for sale.
Despite this, there have been rumors of a possible bid from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the future. It has been suggested that deal makers will be back in 2024, with Al-Hilal being a team to watch.
While some Liverpool players are away representing their international teams, there have been notable performances. Cody Gakpo scored his first goal of the season in a commanding win for Holland against Kostas Tsimikas’ Greece.
In other news, Liverpool fans were pleased with an admission from Paul Scholes regarding iconic midfielder Steven Gerrard.
