Welcome to our Liverpool FC live blog for Friday, September 8.

The transfer window for Saudi Pro League clubs closed on Thursday night, and there were some interesting developments involving Liverpool. Reigning champions Al-Ittihad made a late bid for Mohamed Salah right before the market shut, but their offer was rejected by the Reds.

Since then, there have been rumors of a possible bid from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but Jurgen Klopp’s team has remained firm in their stance that Salah is not for sale. However, there is now a new twist in the story, with reports suggesting that deal makers will be back in 2024, and Al-Hilal is a team to keep an eye on.

While all this is happening, some Liverpool players are representing their international teams around the world. Cody Gakpo scored his first goal of the season in a commanding win for Holland against Kostas Tsimikas’ Greece.

In other news, Liverpool fans were pleased to hear an admission from Paul Scholes about iconic midfielder Steven Gerrard.
