Welcome to our Liverpool FC live blog for Saturday, September 9. Liverpool is gearing up for their return to Premier League action, as they prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers and seek redemption for last season’s humbling defeat.
Unfortunately, Liverpool will be without their captain, Virgil van Dijk, who has had his one-match ban extended by an independent Regulatory Commission following his red card against Newcastle United. In addition to the suspension, van Dijk has also been fined £100,000. He broke his silence on the verdict on Friday night.
In other news, Diogo Jota was left out by Portugal during their match against Slovakia in Bratislava. Liverpool fans may be relieved to know that Mohamed Salah remains with the club despite interest from Saudi Arabia. The Pro League director of football has hinted that the door is not completely closed, though.
