Cool Waters Cyber, an award-winning cyber security firm, has announced its expansion and the opening of a new headquarters at the Tremough Innovation Centre in Penryn. The company has also welcomed two new members, Jamie Barnett and James Nixon, to its Cornish Cyber Apprentice Scheme, which aims to create high-tech careers for young people in Cornwall.
With the addition of Barnett and Nixon, Cool Waters Cyber now has a team of six members. The two new recruits stood out among 30 other apprenticeship applicants. Mark Faithfull, the founder of Cool Waters Cyber, expressed his excitement about the team’s growth and the expansion of their headquarters, emphasizing their commitment to increasing opportunities for high-tech careers in Cornwall.
Cool Waters Cyber recently achieved the status of Cornwall’s first and only Assured Service Provider, a recognition granted by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to a select few firms in the UK. This status acknowledges Cool Waters Cyber as a certified provider of security advice. Mark highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating that their team is trusted to deliver cyber security advice to businesses across the UK.
The company’s focus is on helping all organizations, including charities, obtain Cyber Essentials certification. This certification not only protects businesses from common cyber threats but also opens doors to new business opportunities and public sector contracts. Cool Waters Cyber recently assisted fellow Tremough Innovation Centre resident, RJ Working, in obtaining Cyber Essentials certification, enabling them to take control of their cyber security.
Matt Harrington, Head of Cornwall Innovation Centres, expressed his delight at seeing another Cornish business thrive in the cyber security sector. He emphasized the importance of cyber security for all business owners and praised Cool Waters Cyber’s appointment as an Assured Service Provider, which adds credibility to the company. Harrington also highlighted the support provided by Tremough Innovation Centre as Cool Waters Cyber continues to grow.
The Cornwall Innovation Centres consist of three locations across Cornwall: Truro (Health & Wellbeing Innovation Centre, Treliske), Pool (Pool Innovation Centre), and Penryn (Tremough Innovation Centre). These centers aim to inspire and support dynamic individuals in building innovative enterprises for business success. Currently, over 150 businesses operate from these three locations.
