Doucoure Expresses Gratitude to Everton Fans
Abdoulaye Doucoure has expressed his determination to repay the unwavering support of Everton fans and has also shared his optimism about the team’s growing confidence.
Doucoure had a challenging time during the final week of Frank Lampard’s tenure as manager, being instructed to train alone and subsequently overlooked for a match against West Ham United due to a dressing-room dispute. This game turned out to be Lampard’s final one in charge of the Goodison Park club.
However, since Sean Dyche took over as manager in January, the midfielder has been a revelation and played a crucial role in helping Everton maintain their top-flight status last season. His goal against Bournemouth on the last day of the season prevented relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.
This season, Doucoure has been an ever-present figure in Dyche’s team, playing in an advanced role in a five-man midfield. His impressive performances were rewarded with a new contract until June 2025 earlier this month.
“Things are going really well at the moment,” Doucoure told evertontv. “We had a clear goal this season to make improvements compared to the past two seasons.
“We are heading in the right direction, but we want to keep pushing forward. I feel an immense amount of love here, and I am extremely happy. Last week, I committed myself to a new contract with the club, so it’s evident that I am more than pleased to stay here.
“I adore the fans and the way they support and appreciate me. I simply want to reciprocate that love and give my all for the club.”
