Alphabet’s Google is working on new AI technology that can take control of a web browser to help with tasks like research and shopping, according to a report by The Information. The product, known as Project Jarvis, is set to be demonstrated in December alongside the release of Google’s next flagship Gemini large language model.
Microsoft-backed OpenAI is also exploring similar technology, aiming to have its models conduct autonomous web browsing with the help of a computer-using agent. Google, along with Anthropic, is taking this concept even further by developing software that can interact directly with a person’s computer or browser.
Google has yet to comment on these reports.
