10-year-old computer prodigy revives old devices to prevent them from ending up in landfills | CBC NewsA young boy in London is making a big impact in his community by repairing discarded computers. Arlie Hamm, 10, has been honing his skills since he was six and is now taking apart hardware to rebuild computers that would otherwise end up as e-waste. His goal is to donate these refurbished computers to those in need, especially families without access to technology for work and school.

With the support of his father, Jeffrey, Arlie has been overwhelmed by the response from their neighborhood. People have been donating old computers for Arlie to repair, with the largest donation of nine PCs coming from the Home Hardware Building Centre. Store owner Chuck Bergeron handed over the computers to Arlie, ensuring they are recycled properly and put to good use.

Arlie has been working with various operating systems and has encountered some challenges while repairing computers. Despite this, he finds the process of putting together and taking apart computers relatively easy and hopes to continue pursuing his passion for technology.

The father-son duo is determined to keep the project going and has set up a Facebook page to solicit donations for future repairs and donations. They hope to give these computers a second chance and encourage others in the community to support Arlie’s initiative.

Arlie’s message to others interested in computers is simple: give it a try and see where it takes you. With his talent and determination, Arlie is proving that age is just a number when it comes to making a difference in the world of technology.
