"Aberdeen Firm Thrives as IT Security Services Soar in Demand, Expands Operations"

Nimbus Blue, an IT and security services company based in Aberdeen, has experienced a significant increase in demand over the past year. This surge in demand has led to the expansion of their team and a boost in profits.

The growing awareness of cyber security threats among small and medium-sized businesses, as well as larger organizations, has contributed to the increased demand for Nimbus Blue’s services. In fact, the company has generated an additional £340,000 in new business revenue in 2023, nearly tripling their profits compared to the previous year.

Nimbus Blue has taken on new consulting projects and acquired new clients, including Aberdeen Football Club, which sought their expertise to enhance their cyber security measures. Additionally, the company has seen an increase in work with existing clients, particularly in the area of human-backed security. To meet this demand, Nimbus Blue introduced a security operations centre service for smaller businesses in late 2022.

David Tawse, the managing director of Nimbus Blue, highlighted the rise in cyber security services, such as Guided Cyber Essentials Plus and their 24×7 Security Operations Centre. This has resulted in a 30% year-on-year increase in their services, with the team focusing on delivering security assessments, training, and certifications.

Looking ahead to 2024, Tawse expects the demand for their services to continue growing. He emphasized the importance of certifications like Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001 in demonstrating cybersecurity awareness and robust information management for businesses bidding on public sector contracts.

To meet the increasing demand for cyber security services and certifications, Nimbus Blue recently expanded its team by hiring Andy Turner as a dedicated security lead. They also appointed Stewart Houston as technical operations manager to prepare the company’s systems and processes for scalability. As part of their growth plans, Nimbus Blue anticipates adding two to four more technical resources to their team.
